Product Engineer (Full-Stack)
Early-stage startup ↗ · Early-stage · TypeScript
PAY:Competitive base + meaningful early equity.
LOCATION: REMOTE
HARD FILTERS
- 3–6 YOE full-time software engineering, with 4–5 as the sweet spot
- 1.5+ consecutive years in a tier-1 engineering team
- Full-stack evidence on resume: shipped features touching frontend + backend
- TypeScript / JavaScript / modern web stack somewhere in their experience
- Product engineering orientation: built user-facing or customer-facing software
- Not primarily ML research, model training, data science, infra, or platform
STRONG FIT
- Built or owned 0→1 product/features from scratch
- Worked at an early-stage startup or small product team
- Early engineer at a startup, roughly #1–15 or similar
- Founded/co-founded something; failed attempts count
- Side project with real usage, customers, revenue, or meaningful adoption
- High-ownership project at work with ambiguous scope
- Worked directly with customers/users or made product decisions
- Builds in public: writing, OSS, talks, Show HN, meaningful GitHub, etc.
BONUS
- Data pipeline / ingestion / analytics infra experience
- Worked with queues, async jobs, webhooks, ETL/ELT, events, backfills, or workflow systems
- LLM APIs shipped in production: prompting, RAG, agents, evals, AI workflows
- SDK / library / developer-tooling experience
- Mobile experience: iOS, Android, React Native, Expo, etc.
ANTI-SIGNALS
- Wants ML research, model training, or data science role
- Pure frontend specialist
- Pure backend / infra / platform specialist
- 7+ YOE and positioning for Staff / Principal / Architect scope
- Career is only megacorp → megacorp, with no scrappy or high-ownership chapters
- <1 year at every stop as a pattern, not a one-off
- Resume is mostly consultancies / banks / agencies, with no product-company experience
- No clear evidence of shipping customer-facing product
About the role
Full-stack product engineer at an early-stage company. Sweet spot is 4–5 years of full-time software engineering with strong product orientation — shipping user-facing features end-to-end on a modern TypeScript / JavaScript stack. Not an ML, data science, or pure infra role.
How to read this
Looking for someone who has already proven they can own a product surface end-to-end at a small team, has 0→1 instincts, and is comfortable being one of the first 5–15 engineers. Megacorp-only paths and pure specialists (frontend-only, backend-only, ML research) are not the fit.
Culture & what they're building
- The bet: Mobile apps lose months waiting on app-store updates to test new revenue experiments. Use AI to automatically generate and test in-app features, ship them server-side, let the experimentation platform decide what wins.
- SDKs across Swift, Kotlin, React Native, Flutter; 99.99% uptime target with robust fallbacks
- A/B testing, subscription analytics, segmentation — inspired by the experimentation platform from Meta
- Real revenue impact in customer case studies (e.g. +77% subscription growth post-integration)
- Generalist product engineers, not ML researchers — they use AI as a tool to ship faster
- Early-stage, well-backed, growing fast; one of the first 5–15 engineers
